• Automatic Updates not installing

I have a queue of downloaded Microsoft updates that simply won’t install which I am reminded of daily, as every time I go to power down my computer, I am reminded to Install Updates and Shutdown. This started happening (I believe) last month.

I am running XP Pro SP 3 32-bit

    The updates are:
KB2870699 – Cumulative Security update for IE 8 on Windows XP
    KB951847 – .NET Framework 3.5 SP 1 and “Family”
    KB2844285 – .NET Framework 2.0 SP2
    KB2840628 – .NET Framework 4
KB2864063 – Security Update for Windows XP
KB2876217 – Security Update for Windows XP
KB890830 – Malicious Software Removal tool for Sept. 2013

I’ve read in the past instructions for cleaning out the cached copies of failed updates, and the times I’ve used the instructions, it’s always cleared out the logjam of patches — could someone please point me in that direction again?

    Thanks in advance!
