    Hello,

I have recently run into a problem. Whenever I start Excel, the Calculation Setting is set to manual. I have tried changing it to Automatic, but whenever restart Excel, it is set back to Manual. Can someone please help change the default back to automatic?

    Thanks

Excel picks up it’s calculation mode from the first workbook it opens, which in many cases is personal.xls

If you have personal.xls try the following:
Select Windows > Unhide and choose Personal.xls workbook
Go to Tools > Options and set the calculation mode to automatic
Save personal.xls & hide it (Windows > Hide)
You will still be asked if you want to save personal.xls when you quit excel, choose Yes.

If you do not have personal.xls, check your xlstart directory for any file that opens automatically and reset calculation mode and then save those files.
