Is there a way to automatically change ordinals to superscript in footnotes? Autoformat doesn’t seem to function in footnotes.

Have you checked your “AutoFormat as you type” settings? I have Word 2002 SP-3 too, and superscript is applied to the “nd” in 2nd or “rd” in 3rd in footnotes too…

I should have mentioned that I am working with an existing document, which was converted from a Word Perfect document. On top of that, I am importing it into an InDesign document for a book layout. InDesign won’t automatically change fractions and ordinals. I can autoformat the text of the Word doc, but autoformat is grayed out when you’re working on footnotes. What I have been doing is retyping the ordinals and fractions, with “Autoformat as you type” selected, like you suggested. I was just looking for a way to automate the process.
