• Auto Filter/Sort/Undo Bug (Excel 97)

Does anyone know if the following known bug in Excel ’97 has been fixed in either Excel 2000 or Excel 2002?

    1. Turn on Autofilter and Filter on one or more columns
    2. Sort the resulting AutoFiltered Sheet
    3. Attempt to Undo the Sort

Consistently gives a “Program has committed an Unrecoverable Error and will Exit.” message.

All data not stored is lost.

    Thanks.

The error doesn’t seem to occur in Excel 2002 (SP-2).

I cannot replicate the error in 97(Sr-2 ).

        I can’t replicate it either: XL 2000 sr1 (in a file generated in xl97 sr2).
Strikes me a good case if you’re doing something ‘ambitious’ to save as… [newname] and do it on the copied file first.
