I’ve discovered AskWoody but lately and realize the amount of valuable information, dialogs I’ve missed before that. Woody’s commitment is so valuable and his very most sympathetic behavior, sense of humor together with his knowledge of ground computer/network realities maintain his site as open-minded and therefor opened to all levels of personal computing skills.

We will ALWAYS appreciate Woody’s outstanding knowledge and input on many subjects Kathy but Windows 10 as it is now looks like it has put an end to the “DEFCON” era that we once lived by. I still have hopes that M$ changes their stance on the forced updates but we all know what’s in the other hand with hope in one of them.

Happy Birthday Woody! I’d send you an electronic cake but I doubt anybody really wants to receive a cake sent in “packets” anyhow!

BTW… eating non-fattening cake is like drinking a non-alcoholic beer to me. Why bother?

I discovered this site when trying to figure out what to do about the “Get Windows 10” nagware… I guess at least one good thing came from GWX!

I now never update without checking here first, and I hope this site continues to be around so long as I own and make use of a Windows machine.

Though Microsoft may find you a thorn in their side, you have actually indirectly helped them. When users are forewarned of problems it lessens the damage and the resulting fallout. In turn their pampered clients also benefit.

Askwoody is the canary in the coalmine (I am not sure if that yellow thing is a canary or a bat). Microsoft owes you a debt of gratitude as much as your followers already do. Too bad they are too pompous to realize it.

This site is amazing, and as all have expressed so well helped me in so many ways by guiding me with my computers and issues,and preventing many computer disasters.

There are many sites out there with help and advice, but this one is the touchstone; the one I can trust. The site different than the others due to the man behind it all. Thank you Woody!

Nearly ten years ago, I got bit by a bad Windows Update and that’s when I found the AskWoody site. I’ve been a big fan ever since then, setting Win Update to Never Check and absolutely refusing to allow it to run until after I’ve checked this site. This past year, with the Win10 malware running rampant, this site has been a godsend keeping the numerous computers here running solidly on Win7. A huge Thank You Woody for all that you do for us.

I’ve been visiting this site for the last couple years and it’s a very informative site.

I especially love the MS-DEFCON system. It’s very useful to know when it’s okay to install updates. These days, I never update my pc until you change the MS-DEFCON rating.

Here’s to another 12 years and more!

congratulations Woody my go to source for everything Windows for most of those 12 years! The Windows Update info here has saved me and so many readers countless hours of frustration and Stress.
