Hard to believe. The Lounge went up on Jan. 31. Ten days later, we’ve hit 500 registered Loungers. There have been a few rocky times, with the site bo

AskWoody LoungerFebruary 10, 2017 at 9:12 am #93229I don’t know, I think it went rather well sure page retrieval times have been a bit long last few days but that’s not a real problem. (seems fine now) I had to “Re-configure a few settings here at my end to stay logged in jumping between web pages but as I don’t do anything secure on this machine its not a problem. So congrats to you Woody and one and all and here’s to the continued success. On to the next job here to find an “Avatar thingy” that’s proving the hardest and no I aint posting my Pic as your user numbers will likely drop faster than the M$ Edge usage statistics lol

AskWoody MVPFebruary 10, 2017 at 12:14 pm #93271Was just thinking I wanted to use an upvote on a post!
Looking forward to all the new Phase II offerings. Finding the amount of ever expanding posts a little overwhelming… but never boring.
The posts continue to be informative, and entertaining, even where the emotions get stirred up and Woody has to jump in and remind us of civility.
There is so much to learn a lot from the contributors here. The Lounge easy for me to navigate… Recent Topics and Search is working great!
Was puzzled through some of the changes, but the end results are great… Thank you, Woody!
Are you saying that the donations to AskWoody (through Patreon, PayPal, and the Amazon shopping link) are funding the ability to make all those Phase II changes? I’m in to helping making good things even better!

Yep. I’m plowing every penny back into the Lounge.
My wife’s saying I really should make minimum wage, but we aren’t there yet.

AskWoody MVPFebruary 10, 2017 at 12:27 pm #93274Regarding Phase III, and realizing there are certain people with such valuable knowledge and willingness to contribute, but not knowing the technical aspects… is there any way to follow particular contributors? I’ve been subscribing to topics of interest, and certain forums. At one point in developing the Lounge, it was mentioned that it might be valuable, although take commitment and extra work, for certain well known MVPs to start their own forum/blogs that could be subscribed to? I always follow the AskWoody blog… and tried to keep up with everything else, but see a need to be more discriminating with my time as the Lounge growth explodes. I do check profiles and the replies of contribitors I find especially valuable, but it feels a little clunky when doing that. I have to find a reply by that contributor before I can navigate to their replies. Not sure that it would be possible, only that it would be nice… Thank you, Elly

ManagerFebruary 10, 2017 at 1:06 pm #93291One of my requests for Phase 2 – the one that’s kicking off in the next few weeks – is that the “Search” function be filterable by date, and by author. I still don’t know how much it’ll cost to add that capability, but I should know soon.
As for separate forums for well-known industry personalities… that’s a great idea, but I have to find volunteers! One has already volunteered. Look for digitalmediaphile’s contributions in the IoT area.

I hope others will follow soon….

AskWoody LoungerFebruary 10, 2017 at 12:56 pm #93287Congratulations on a great beginning, Woody (and the members who contribute so much excellent and useful information and advice), but I think it IS just the beginning. This is a most unique Website (I check in here several times a day — not so with any other Website, other than my e-mail, of course), so as the word gets out, get ready for the stampede of new members to grow larger and faster!

AskWoody LoungerFebruary 10, 2017 at 4:53 pm #93544That’s fantastic news and I’m not surprised. The new layout with the forums is terrific and very easy to navigate. And now with a link to them added to the top menu bar, they are easy and obvious to find. Thanks for all the hard work! I have visited your site(s) daily for years and this is my favorite incarnation yet.
