AskWoody LoungerFebruary 1, 2019 at 1:40 pm #319655@Admin: Woody, I’ve been very, very will for several weeks now, and am trying to find my way back to where your changes first began. Could you please send me a link to where I may be able to locate this important information? Thank you for everything you do for all of us, you are “One In A Million”, and always will be.

AskWoody LoungerFebruary 3, 2019 at 2:55 pm #320366PKCano, will Patrons who currently contribute monthly to Ask Woody eventually be added to the Plus Membership roll? I’m not receiving the Newsletters and Alerts by e-mail yet, and I’m sure I signed up for them shortly after the changes were announced. I also see I don’t have the Plus flare on my avatar, either. Just wondering … Thanks.

ManagerFebruary 8, 2019 at 10:30 am #322885Looks like I got you set up OK, but note… Patreon is going through some very rough times. Many people believe they’re close to disbanding.
Much better to sign up through the Plus Membership routine here and, if you want to donate monthly, come back every month! Always greatly appreciated…

AskWoody_MVPFebruary 3, 2019 at 4:02 pm #320389I applied the January MS Updates to my Windows 10 Pro PC today. A pleasant surprise bonus happened:
In October 2018 there was an MS Update which broke for some of us the File Types Associations Settings Pane. Our Win32 programs were not available from the list on right-clicking to change the open-with defaults by file type in that Pane.
Today’s MS Updates had a reissue of the October 2018 patch, and this time the File Type Association Settings Pane issue was for the most part back to normal for Windows 10. Most but not all of my Win32 applications were available for the file types for which the applications are Registered.
So some good came out of this round of updating, at least for me. One less Windows 10 annoyance to keep me tearing out the few hairs I have remaining on the top of my head.
But I am still not upgrading to Win 10 Version 1809. Still too much uncertainty about some of the feature changes and patch reliability, in spite of recent improvements reported in this blog.

AskWoody LoungerFebruary 8, 2019 at 9:49 am #322858I applied the Win7 patches and the hot fix and have a new network issue. The Linksys Media Center Extenders disappear from the network (two DMA2100 and one DMA2200). I changed one extender, moved the cable to a different switch and still have the same problem…after some time the extender will stop responding the picture will freeze on the tv set and the extender will be gone from media devices in network. A power cycle will bring it back and it will function for several hours before it disappears again. I have six win 7 machines one Win 8.1 RT and one Win 8.1 machine. They’re gone from the 8.1 machines as well. Perhaps Linksys certificates expired? Or was it something in the patches?
