ASK/REF Field Problems

I designed a template that uses ASK fields and an AUTONEW macro to pop-up boxes that the user enters information in.

The problem shows up after all the information has been entered and the document is displayed. If the user tries to correct or change any info in those fields Word very politely lets changes be made, but when you try to print it or save it–presto chango–the field reverts to what was there before changes.

If you save the document immediately and then open it again, you can make changes and they stay changed. Kind of weird. Any ideas.

I’m not using Word 2000 here, so this is just an idea. Does it help to save the document after the fields have been filled in? Or even to update all fields, or go into print preview and back? How do people go about making changes to the fields? By right click and update field, or some other way?

It sounds as if your users are trying to change the REF fields rather than what is in the bookmarks. You may want to download and explore the following tutorials:

(These are simply forms that work. At least one has an unprotected section.)

You may want to include a toolbar that let’s your users update the bookmarks or consider putting the responses into document properties. Hope this helps.
