I didn’t think I was THAT old (30 + a small bit) but can still remember when I moved from a pinny to space invaders, pacman (yuk), galaxian/galaga etc. My really REALLY favourite table-top was a minor-league player called “jungler” (even though I said yuk to pacman and I know they are similar). I can’t find a “jungler” download anywhere though unless I’m prepared to pay big bucks for a one-off (very small) file. What is my next step?
    Thanks again,
    Willow

GL it took me three years to find a copy of DigDug for a friend of mine. I finally found it at http://www.tripletsrus.com[/url%5D don’t know anything about the one you are looking for but if it is an 80’s game you might try them.

      Hi Willow,

A few years ago I discovered an emulator by the name of MAME – Multi Arcade Machine Emulator. This brought back the taste of yesteryear with favourites such as DigDug, Pacman, Pacland, Defender, Donkey Kong, Star Wars, Asteroids, Bomb Jack, Mr Do., Wonder Boy, Yie Ar Kung Fu, 1942, 1943, Track & Field…….reproduced with 100% accuracy in most cases.

Getting the MAME emulator was never difficult. Finding the ROMs (game files) is the hard part. Copyright being what it is, there have been many crackdowns on sites offering these.

Anyway, have a look around for the emulator (mame32 is a Windows GUI version) and let me know if you need any help getting started. Have a pleasant week.

      Just another 70’s kid….

Don’t ya know, they have to protect the copyrights on ROMs for Pac Man et al because they still make money from them in laundromats the world over. grin

Callus ande Raine are also good emus if you like Capcom and other games of that ilk – but again, in order to legally download the ROM images, you must own the ROM itself.

          >>>… in laundromats the world over…

Interesting. When I studied in Vienna (Austria), I didn’t notice any arcade games in the laundromat I frequented. Perhaps that’s because I was preoccupied with the drink machine that also dispensed beer… That’s right, folks. A drink machine that offered a decent local brew for just over the equivalent of $1US. No ID checks, no age limit, nada! Just walk up, pop in a few Schillings (now Euro) and walk away happy. grin

I think we need a few of those in the USA! cheers

      Willow,

Not much help on jungler- but there’s a good site on http://www.freeoldies.com/ which does have a lot of the old games. (But be careful- at least one of them has a virus)

Again thanks for all the feedback folks. A list member was kind enough to send me a private reply, but I delted the reminder from my email by mistake and am unsure how to get the reply. Could the kind author try again?
      Cheers
