Can you open a Command Prompt (Admin) and enter chkdsk /f

You’ll be prompted to type and enter y then enter shutdown /r /t 00 where the computer will reboot and the chkdsk will execute on the restart.

When it has completed and the machine is back up, right click on the Start button and select Event Viewer.

Ensure Event Viewer (Local) is highlighted in the upper left pane and when it has read the logs, expand Windows Logs – click on Applications and look for wininit or you can click on Action/Find then type chkdsk or wininit into the Find box and press enter.

Cancel the Find box and read the log in the scrollable window.

As well as what else it reports, look to see if it reports any KBs for bad sectors.

It appears to be intermittent, has always been difficult to solve in such situations.

Intermittent problems are always the worse to nail down.

Which particular program are you running when the crash happens ?

AppCrashView may give some more details.
