When you open Apple’s Business website in Mozilla Firefox, you are greeted by a “your browser is not supported” prompt. The message is displayed for all recent versions of Firefox, including Firefox Stable, Firefox ESR and Firefox Nightly.

Apple states that it recommends Safari, Microsoft Edge or Chrome to access the Business site, but most Chromium-based browsers work. The business login is displayed when you open the site in Brave or Opera, and of course the three mentioned web browsers that Apple recommends.

Firefox users may skip the blocking of their web browser on Apple’s Business site by changing the user agent of the browser. ..

I can get to the above just fine on Fx 91.11.0 ESR (current version) on my Windows 10 computer. Is this just being blocked on Fx on Windows 11?

Yuck..what an UGLY site! I’m surprised at Apple. Glad I have no need of the business site. I hate depressing looking sites like this one.

That’s a very confusing article (I’m a big fan of Martin so I am a bit surprised). I do have webgl enabled in Fx and I have no problems. I also can access “histography.io” with no problems on Fx 91.11.0 ESR. (The latter site is discussed by users in the replies to Martin’s article). I see Karl says the problem is on Mac OS and I guess no problem on Windows?

Fx is my defaullt browser on my iPhone XR and it works just fine. I know it is just a shell on the iPhone but no problems using Fx to access Apple’s business site.

Fx, and before it Mozilla Suite, has always been my default browser on all computers and versions of Windows from 98 on but just in the past couple of months suddenly I am seeing a number of websites that used to work with Fx no longer do so. That makes me angry.

No, not nice. Not acceptable. Not at all.

While I understand that Apple is still trying hard to convince folks that they “think different” (about computers, use of adverbs, etc.), I guess I’m still surprised that Apple’s “Business” boys could be so astoundingly out of touch with my business needs.

No different than Intuit’s QuickBooks blocking Edge and recommending Chrome.  This is a management console site, not a “normal” website.  Vendors ultimately HAVE to draw the line of supportability and with cloud services, supporting all of the browsers is not easy.

I’m not a QuickBooks user, but yes, I’ve recently heard this “Use Chrome, Not Edge” direction from one of our web-based software vendors (application service providers?). And this stance puzzles me. Not simply because Edge is a chromium-based browser (similar to Chrome), but because Edge is Microsoft’s flagship browser, pretty much guaranteed to be installed on _all_ modern Windows boxes.

Was a time I’d have bet that any serious software developer would’ve been embarrassed to admit that they didn’t design, code, and test their software adequately to ensure compatibility and proper operation with Microsoft software. Why? Because lots and lots and lots of real businesses use lots and lots and lots of Microsoft operating systems and application software, all day, every day.

But I guess these days “fast” and “cheap” are all that seem to matter. No time or money for quality, compatibility, stability, etc.

(Wait, what’s that sound? Oh, I have to go now. I’m pretty sure I hear some kids outside, probably compsci students from the local university playing ultimate frisbee on my lawn again, so I need to go yell at them… )

.. but not much is use with ~6% while Chrome has 77%, Safari ~9%, Firefox ~8…
