I was taking a walk early in the morning and saw a person that seems to have been charging several power stations at a car charging station inside the truck. I started to ask if that was what they were doing, but they packed up and left. So I was just wondering if that is what was happening since I might want to do the same. I want to see the free power to power things at home.

Has anyone try doing this? If so, what did you use?

I looked at the power stations but none of them had a J1772  port. There is a converter from J1772  to normal NEMA plug.

This might be what this person was using but I’m not sure. The charging station gives free power to cars so it makes sense to use it for charging power stations for use at home for those that are not wealth.

Free charging station?! Surely there is no such thing.
Someone has to pay for the electricity.

Yes someone has to pay, but there are free stations that allow EV cars to charge. I want to use that free electric to power my computer and TV at home from a power bank. I saw a person charging about 5 power banks in the back of their truck using 5 stations pumps to charge them. I don’t think an EV car would need 5 pumps be connect to it. Usually I just see one car and one pump.

Here’s a link that shows free EV charging station:

Typically those fast charging stations are designed for the EV car batteries.  In order to run a computer or a TV you’d need some sort of conversion box. And it’s not free.

i have not done it but I have seen the family around here that we call the mole people do it. They build underground bunkers on their properties. When kids play with them, it was a secret but kids talk and show and soon most everyone knew about the bunkers. Since pandemic they went to those bunkers and rarely to you see them. Recently the mole people come out every few months now and use those free power station to charge their power station to take back to the bunkers underground.

I saw them using the cable you mentioned and power station like this but not sure if it is the same one. I have not test this so no guarantee this will work. Good luck if you want to try it and know the risk with it.

The poster was talking about powering a portable power station from my reading. No conversion box would be need.

I read that as running a TV or a computer.

Are you saying you can charge your EV from that device?

Yes. I heard of people using them for EV cars but I do not have EV car.  I use them around the house. My power bill has been only around $25 or so per month for few years now. Before, it was around $270 and more per month. This power stations pay for themselves on how much I have saved on power at home. For now the EV station are free. If they change to be paid than will lost my free power source.

There is no way you can charge an EV from that device.
EVs require at least 20kw of charge and that unit has a capacity of 3.6kw.

EF ECOFLOW Portable Power Station 3600Wh DELTA Pro, 2.7H to Full Charge, 5 AC Outlets, 3600W, 120V Lifepo4

This is technically off topic as I do not have an EV, but I’ve been through prolonged power outs at home and really dislike a defrosting soggy refrigerator.  Ironically, I have this ECOFLOW DELTA Pro power station and a second smaller Ecoflow PS that solve that headache.  The 3600Wh DELTA Pro runs the refrigerator a full 24 hours and the smaller power station adds 6 more hours.

For daytime use, I have a Honda inverter generator that runs through the breaker box and covers the essentials plus charges the Power Station batts.  I have a GenTent so I can run it in the rain if necessary.  For me, this Power Station stuff is some serious POM.

Like I mentioned, I heard people having use them in parallel with each other.  But I use them for powering things at home. I charge them at EV charging station for free and have free power at home.
