The promised predictability and consistent release schedule for Windows Updates, from that blog post and the reply to Susan’s letter, continue to disappoint.

Umm i have a question was 1803 pushed to someone else apart from me? because 1803 was trying to download in my computer.

Just someone who don't want Windows to mess with its computer.

@zaphyrus and @fred well it tried back in May on a Win10Home1709 VHD I was running in parallel with Win1709Pro and hasn’t tried since, replaced by a Win10Home1803 VHD. WUMT successfully caught it in the nick of time and it was hidden hoping to prove concept when 1809 hits the tiles next Month for a little trick with WUMT and Task Scheduler see if that works again. Then no doubt another 3 Months decision time Go up to 1809 with Win10Pro1709 or remain until 1903? Although I am tempted with the “Dark Theme” and surprisingly found the Timeline feature more useful than I had thought it would.

Well that was bit “Sneaky” WUMT picked it up this afternoon on Win10Home1803, even before I had got my daily “fix” of AskWoody, and they could have at least waited to Tuesday normally when my guard is up late afternoon. Any way now hidden pending developments. Wonder what they’ve got planned for the “Drum Roll” 1809 another perfect Patch Tuesday Storm next Month? Paul Thurott seems to be of the opinion that its on the edge of completion, no new features and scant few fix’s in the latest insiders distro. Might be an idea for folks to be extra vigilant on the run up to Patch Tuesday next Month, unless of course you wish to be an unpaid Beta tester 😉

I think MS will announce 1809 at Ignite, and I’d guess the announcement (if not availability) will come during the keynote, September 24.

1809 is as baked as it’s gonna be. Sigh.

The plan is to molest, pillage, and plunder your computer.

So tired of it all. Right now, my computer is crunching for over 45 minutes already on a process called Windows Modules Installer Worker. That happens now and then and it’s a know  process that sneakily starts when you don’t move a mouse for a few minutes. Supposed to do household tasks and cleaning up updates. But why on earth for sooooo long? And Why doesn’t it stop when I use this system??? Windows is an inefficient dinosaur and I have the strong feeling it gets slower with every forced update. 🙁

Think about it for a while…

I thought. And the more I think, the less I understand it. Why are the updates not installer in such a way that cleaning up an obviously big mess afterwards would not be necessary? Why do I have the feeling that Windows is a collection of totally unrelated parts that are somehow glued together to give the impresion of a coherent system? It looks like it’s not. :-/

Even with WUMT I still feel like Win10 is sneaking stuff in when I’m not looking because of all these unannounced updates and pushes that they do every month. [sigh]

I think I’ll make more frequent use of “Airplane Mode” when using WLAN/WiFi internet connections so that unexpected Win10 updates won’t “sneak” in my computers

no new update for Win10 v1703 until sometime next week (between Sept. 24 and Sept. 27), woody

      KB 4464218 brings Win10 1803 up to build 17134.286

      Installed yesterday. No issues today.

I have the same feeling, but I have no energy or extra time anymore to be “on guard” 24/7 on MY pc being hijacked by this WindowsOS or other “Data-Mologs”; *yakyak*
