I have a few annoying problems in various programs.

    1. In Firefox and Flock, the Back Arrows are always “ghosted” and the equivalent keyboard commands don’t work.*

    2. In any application (especially online), when selecting text to copy, the selection “box” cancels out or disappears…after many tries, I can select the text.

    3. In Spider Solitaire, the card I’m moving with my mouse will flip back to its starting point. This is random but at least every other move.

    4. In Outlook, opened e-mail messages no longer has Reply, Forward type buttons on the top.

    5. Generally, shouldn’t Task Manager be the “final word”? When I tell TM to End Program or End Process, in my judgment the thing should shut down immediately. Lately it’s been very annoying to turn to this Manager of Last Resort, and it’s impotent. I want to use it to unblock my memory or system–and it’s not closing the programs. I should say that I’ve not had programs lock up since the memory upgrade. But this powerless Task Manager thing has ticked me off for a while.

In light of some of these problems, I upgraded to 3 gig of memory.

*posting in another section also but it may be part of a pattern.

Question 1 – anyone responding please see post 724,468

Questions 2 and 3 – I would check you have the latest mouse drivers.

Question 4 – With an open email, right-click in the toolbar area and select Customize – can you get them back from there? Otherwise, I would repost that in the Outlook forum as it sounds more of an Outlook specific issue.

      Question 5 – sorry, can’t help!

Re: question 5. I really can’t help either, only sympathize and keep “our” fingers crossed that we see a fix soon. See post 722,629, which is probably a boring thread. I don’t really know if MY problem is with Vista, Zone Alarm or Firefox but I think the refusal of task manager to end a process is really a separate problem that I just coincidentally stumbled on. In all the MANY Googles I’ve done I’ve come upon its mention a number of times in forums such as Zone Labs and Mozillazine.

Question #5 – Task Manager is the last resort. However, when a program or process actually shuts down is dependent on many factors. Some of those are what else is happening on the PC and if the program or process may be waiting for something such as a network response before repsonding to anything else. What programs or processes are you trying to end Task Manager? Why?
