    Greetings All

I’m not sure how long I’ve been dealing with this, so I don’t know if it surfaced with March updates or before, but I’m pretty sure before, but not more than a couple weeks ago.  One of my program’s is Cyberlink’s Power DVD22.  It’s desktop icon, and only that icon, won’t stay put.  Every time I log in, the icon has moved to the lower left-hand corner of my desktop.  I have the exact same software on my WIN 11 laptop, and its icon stays neatly in its proper place.  Not a big deal, but I’m one of those a place for everything, and everything in its place type of guys.  I would like for it to stay put.  As always, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Right-click on the Desktop and select View.

      Check “Align icons to grid”

You should also ensure none of the Sort by options are checked.

Desktop already arranged as suggested.  I’ve also tried deleting the shortcut and creating a new one.  No joy.  This is the only icon that misbehaves.  All of the others stay in their proper places.

To quote from n0ads: “Jamie O’Connell’s Desktop Restore add-in for Windows 7, 8, 8.1 & 10 that allows you to save/restore your Desktop icons/layout in case any of my Desktop icons change after a Windows/3rd part program update”. I’ve used this myself for many years, and it just works.

I had a similar issue some time ago on my Windows 10 system.
I found this at the time:
        https://www.tenforums.com/general-support/158435-one-desktop-icon-moving-after-reboot-installation-version-2004-a.html

After reading the 13 Jun 2020 conversations I found that with “Align icons to grid” ticked if I right click on the desktop and Refresh the display the icon moves.
With “Align icons to grid” unticked the icon does not move.
So I have been leaving “Align icons to grid” unticked most of the time – I just tick it when I need to tidy up the desktop layout and then untick it again.

I can now see that there is a later post dated 14 Oct 2020. I just tried this suggestion and it seems to work for me, so I can now leave “Align icons to grid” ticked.

I’ve tried both.  The icon moves in both situations.  Since it’s only the one icon that won’t stay put, I’m presuming that it’s somehow peculiar to its properties.  It’s really not a big deal, just a bit annoying.  Perhaps it will resolve itself with the next update to Power DVD.

Finally figured it out. I’m not sure why this one works the way it does, but creating the shortcut from the start menu creates a shortcut to the shortcut in the Program Data folder rather than to the executable in the Program Files folder.  Creating a shortcut pointing to Program Files fixed the problem.  This is curious, because this program has been on my computer for a couple of years, and the issue has only surfaced recently.  Additionally, I have exactly the same program on my Windows 11 (perhaps that’s the difference) laptop, and there is no issue there.  Anyway, thanks for the inputs.
