Mediocre?  You are too kind sir.

How lazy can people get.? Instead of using the mouse and keyboard or touchscreen to click/tap to increase the speaker volume or open a website or etc, some lazy people are now enlisting digital assistants/servants to do that for them, eg by verbally commanding ‘Miss’ Alexa, OK Google, Cortana, Siri, etc.

How do I get ESR? I have been using Firefox so long that I don’t want to change to something else.

If you are using Linux Mint or Ubuntu, the easier way may be …

        sudo add-apt-repository ppa:jonathonf/firefox-esr
        sudo apt-get update
        sudo apt-get remove firefox
        sudo apt-get install firefox-esr
        .
On a Win XP SP3 computer, I could not download the Firefox 52 ESR .exe file from the above Mozilla link. Had to get the .exe file from somewhere else.

Cortana’s “world knowledge” doesn’t hold a candle to Google’s, as any seven-year-old can attest. As for calendar and location-based anything, Google’s way out ahead on those fronts, too.

Makes sense when you consider that Google’s entire business model is based on grabbing as much information as they can from everyone that they can, analyzing and categorizing that information, and building an ever more complete profile on everyone they can worldwide.

The fact that Microsoft isn’t nearly as good as Google in these areas speaks volumes about Microsoft’s ethics and integrity as compared to Google’s.

Or maybe that MS are just incompetent and haven’t caught up with Google yet.

My point was, that’s all Google does, and so they are very good at it, whereas Microsoft has been doing that as a sideline at most, not as their main money-maker, and so they aren’t nearly as good at it.

You probably caught that, but I just wanted to clarify.

Personally, I think Elon Musk is right.  When the machines get smart and take over, they’ll have all the knowledge they need about us.

I thought they were announcing another new thing, something like these examples. 🙂
