Akamai Netsession to uninstall?

Windows Firewall in Windows 7 blocked Netsession software by Akamai.
Possibly Netsession was installed during Adobe Acrobat Reader download.
Akamai FAQ says the software is safe.
Comments elsewhere suggest the software opens up external access.

Is there agreement that Netsession should be uninstalled as a security issue?

This appears to be a peer to peer interface and internet content delivery interface. It is installed often with apps such as netflix. Did you install Netflix or something similar? It should be safe to uninstall this unless you plan on using it’s peer to peer interface.

I do not believe this came with Adobe Acrobat Reader.
