AirPrint suddenly stopped working for a Brother MFC-J491DW printer on Win11

I’m running Windows 11 22H2 on my DIY desktop. I’ve never had a problem printing with Apple AirPrint on my Brother printer from my iPhone 13 or iPad Pro. Lately though, AirPrint has just stopped working; I get the message “No AirPrint printers found.” I don’t know exactly when because I don’t print that way all that often. But when I want to print, of course, I do want to print. Sending print jobs from my desktop to the printer wirelessly works fine. My daughter says printers are evil and often I think she’s right.

Any suggestions on troubleshooting this issue? Have there been any obscure printer issues with recent Win11 updates?

Printers are evil.  How is the printer set up? USB?  network?  wireless?

It sounds like it’s wireless which means that the printer is on the same wifi as your phones?  If the printer is wifi based, Windows 11 wouldn’t come into the mix.

Have you made any adjustments to your wifi?  Moved phones to a guest network?

It’s wireless on the same network as the phones; no changes I can think of. I’m wondering now if it’s a configuration problem on my iPhone; after I posted my question I found I couldn’t transmit to my TV using AirPlay either. I wonder if AirPrint and AirPlay have something in common. AirPlay does transmit music and phone calls to my hearing aids though. Maybe Apple support can help.

If they are using Bluetooth (instead of WiFi), be sure the devices are connected/paired.
If they are using WiFi, be sure the IP addresses and passwords are correct.

As PK hints I ALWAYS assign static IP addresses to my printers.  They work better and it’s easier to connect to them.
