Hello, I have a Sony media file. I can copy and/or delete it when using my limited user account but when I try to do the same via my Admin Account I’m told that I don’t have the right permissions to do so. Why would this be? Something to do with not using simple file sharing? I tried to take over ownership of the file using my Admin account, but even after doing that I still couldn’t delete or copy it. I’m a little concerned.

    Thanks,

    Chris (Hunt)

Hi Dave, thanks for the reply. It’s located at E:Sony Media Librariessony8.medialib. Both my Admin account and my limited user account have partition E: set to be the my documents folder. This is the first time I’ve ever had any trouble.

How can one location be the same folder for two accounts, each MUST have their own?
I hope you mean that you have Both “Documents and Settings” folders on the E drive.

Also when you change to the other user are you logging out or switching users?
If switch user is being used, the the file may be in use by the “Suspended” account.

            Hi Dave,

I mean that the whole E: partition is the Documents and Settings folder for two different accounts. So from either Account when I select the document and settings folder partition E: is opened. I’ve been doing this for years and never had any problem with any files until now. I almost always log out when I switch users, but in any case that doesn’t apply in this case as I was working from my admin account without ever having started the limited user account.

      Hi Chris,

Joe Perez in this post may have some answers that could be relevant.

      Cheers,

Hi Paul, thanks for the link. I know a little bit about user permissions and I thought I tried the steps Joe linked to. I’ll try again. What is strange is that I can move or delete the file with my limited user account, not with my Admin account. It seems I haven’t been able to take ownership with my admin account.
