I am using Visio 2000 and would like to adjust the spacing between the bullets and the text that follows. In Word, it is easy because there is a ruler with tab and indent capabilities. How do you adjust in Visio? Essentially I want to tighten up the spacing between the bullet and text that follows.

    Thanks in advance,
    Georgette

Right click in the shape where you have the text and turn on the text ruler. That will allow you to see the indent, tabs, etc. for that shape. That should work pretty much the same way it does in Word. You can use Format Text from the shortcut menu to set the text blocks margins as well, but for fine tuning, I prefer the ruler. Use the lower arrow on the ruler to change the distance between the bullet and the text.

Thanks… I tried this on my Visio @ home and was able to find the TEXT RULER with a right click… this is exactly what I was looking for!!

        Many thanks,

Here we are in Visio 2003 and I am faced with the same problem… right clicking does not seem to give me the option to turn on the text ruler. Where did they put it now???

        TIA,
        Georgette

I have Visio 2003 and I would say that it is still in the same place. Right clicking only works if you are editing the text at the time – you can’t just select a shape with text in it as the right click options there are different.

Try right-clicking when the cursor is showing you are editing the text.

Many thanks… you are RIGHT. You must select the text and then right click… only then are you given the option to choose the text ruler with tab options visually available…. Just had to know the right sequence!!!

Sorry, but I have no idea. I don’t have Visio 2003 installed. shrug
