I’m trying to add a second hard disk to my system. It’s one from another computer but explorer (W2K) won’t display the contents. The BIOS picks it up and it’s listed as working in the hardware list (correctly stated) but no sign in explorer.
Any of you experts out there know the answer? I’d appreciate your help if you do.
    Thanks.

Assuming from what you’ve said so far that the drive is JUMPERED correctly, the next thing I’d look for is in My Computer, Manage, Disk Management to see if there’s a problem with drive letter assignment. I don’t regularly use Win2K but someone was getting help here in The Lounge recently and the drive letter thing solved it, if I remember correctly. (I didn’t go looking for the thread)

Thanks for the quick response, Al.
I’ll try that later to see if it works.

I just DID search for the post I was thinking about and it’s right here. However, it involved WinXP and a USB hard drive, but it might still be worth checking in your case also.

Perform a Re-scan of the hard disks from the admin menu

Sorry to have to ask but what is the “Admin” menu?

          Administrative Tools:

          My Computer>Manage>Disk Management

          clapping

Ahhh, thank you! I’m embarrassed to say I never go via that route. I usually just right-click the My Computer icon and select Manage. Thanks again…
