Adding up MP3 timings

Hello,

Does anybody know why on the attached spreadsheet, the sum in J55 is incorrect? It should say somethign around 45 minutes, but instead, it shows 3.81875.

Hi JMT,

The values for each track in column H are entered in hours and minutes, not minutes and seconds.

If you divide each one by 60, then format the cells as hh:mm:ss you’ll see that you have 9min 57sec of Classical guitar, 8:19 of piano, 4:27 string, then 1 hour 11 min 20 secs of “other”, which is about an hour and a half in total, not 45 minutes.

In addition to the earlier comments on hours vs minutes, the total of other is only the hours past 24 (the h:mm format ignores days). It actually totals to 71:20 if you format to [h]:mm. The grand total is 94:03 in [h]:mm. If you use h:mm this will display as 22:03 as the multiples over 24 are ignored (these are days)…
