adding MIDI sounds to FP2000

Following FP help, I went to page properites under page view. There, under the general tab I found where I could add sound. But the box is greyed out and so I can’t proceed. Why is this and how do I activate the box so I can add a background MIDI sound?

Are you sure a MIDI file is your best bet? You may find using the *.wav format is more browser friendly for non-streamed audio, though I’m open to being corrected.

The file I have to add, that was given to me, is a MIDI.

But midi or not, the box in FP 2000 under page properties where I should be able to add sounds is greyed out. Why is this?

Tools/Page Options/Compatibility…..
Looks like the option is only available when you select IE only.

As Leif indicated, background sound is an Explorer-only
option so you have to tell FP that you don’t mind if your
page includes IE-only HTML. You might want to leave the
compatibility option the way it is and put the HTML in
manually. That way you don’t have to open up your pages
to other, perhaps more serious, incompatibilities.

Why is it [philosophically speaking] that MS designed a feature like adding sound to a web page and only made it possbile for IE to make use of it?
