• Adding links to text in Word 2000

I am using Word 2000 with an older Version of Windows 10. I can type in HTML links that are clickable, but I cannot add a link to text with link not visible, because it calls for Internet Explorer to add the link and I do not use that anymore.

I wonder if anybody has some idea if there is a workaround to achieve that?

    Thanks.

      (Slightly off topic)
You should be using W10 22H2 to keep the baddies at bay. You can use GRC InControl to prevent updates past W10 22H2.

Similar problem with Excel 2003. I can add a hyperlink to a cell but clicking on the cell gives me an error.
