Does anyone know how to add an item to the right-click menu for Excel? I know how to do it in Word but can’t figure it out for Excel.

Example: I downloaded a case changer add-in for Excel but would like it to appear on the right click menu. For some reason, it does appear on my right-click menu at work but not at home. Any ideas?

      Hi Sherry,
Do you use the same version of Excel at home as you do at work? I think some of the index numbers of the shortcut menus are different between versions. Unfortunately, as this is an add-in you’ll find it tricky to add the shortcut yourself as you’d need to know the name of the procedure it actually runs.
One other thing to check – are you right-clicking on the same thing? There are different shortcut menus depending on whether your selection is a range, a whole row or column, a chart etc.

I use Office 97 at work and Office 2000 at home. Its the 2000 version that doesn’t have the case changer on the right-click menu. And, yes, I am right-clicking on the same thing.

        Any suggestions?

I guess you’ve got 2 choices (ignoring the option of trying to guess the name of the routine) – either create your own macro to do it and add that to your shortcut menu or, if the add-in was free, see if there’s a 2000 version available.
I would think that the routine to change case would be pretty simple if you wanted to do it yourself – I’m assuming it simply converts text from upper/lower/proper case to either of the other cases?

What is neat about the case changer I am using is that it is an add-in (from http://go.compuserve.com/MSOfficeForum) rather than a macro. I downloaded it from a post in this forum (from pieterse on Oct 9, 01 in answer to my post 80833). I checked the MSOfficeForum to see if they had one for Excel 2000 but didn’t find one.

When you install the add-in it creates a toolbar button that you can click and select from the various forms of case [upper, lower, title, etc.). For some reason in Office 97 it also appears on the right-click menu but doesn’t in Excel 00.

Right-clicking is much more convenient than having to run a macro.

The attached is a pretty simplistic Excel 2000 version of a case change add-in – it only adds itself to the right-click cells shortcut menu not to any of the main toolbars, but I haven’t protected the code so you can tweak it as necessary.
              Hope that helps.

That’s great! I’ll try it as soon as I get home.

              Thanks a lot!
