• Add only DAPs (Access 2k)

I have been reading and playing with DAPs and realize that you can edit and add records using this method using the navigation bar. Is there a way to open a DAP as Data Entry Only, so that other records will not be visible? I want an easy way to have several employees complete a single record, but do not want them to have access to everyone else’s records.

    Thanks.

I’ve never really used Data Access Pages, but as an idea, if the table you are reading out of has an autonumber field, you could base the DAP on a query that has a criteria of the ‘autonumber’ field being NULL. Once a record is ‘updated’ for the first time, the Autonumber field is then given a value other than NULL.

I have to stress that I haven’t ever tried this, but it may work?

Are you operating in an NT environment?
How do you determine a user’s identity?
From what I know (or think I know) is that you are very limited in VBA code in DAP.
      Pat cheers

knowing the user’s identity is not an issue. They will be filling out a form that contains their own name, etc. There will be a field that defaults to =now() so that I know the most recent update. I just want to be able to set the DAP as data entry like on a form in Access, although I may try the previous technique to see if that works.
