Finally took the plunge on my Dell Precision 3620 and really it was painless. As always I did have to reset a few default file associations, and rerun the scripts to activate the Win 7 games and Photo Viewer (whic I prefer), and to add “open command window here” (not open as administrator), but so far that seems to be it. Everything on my home network still works fine (including a Win 7 machine). Took a couple of hours. Just letting all those on the fence it’s not all doom and gloom. 🙂

“Windows 10 version 1809 – September 2018 Update”, I read to mean updating from an earlier Windows 10 (any version) directly to 1809 from within the Windows Update method. As opposed to performing a clean install.

AskWoody_MVPMarch 30, 2019 at 10:49 pm #346781@jaman57 should be getting v1809 + latest CU on his Dell 3620 laptop after upgrading.
type winver.exe on the administrative command prompt (cmd.exe) or Run dialog box and check if the 1809 version is build 17763.379.Microsoft released updated 1809 ISO and ESD files a few days ago that contain build 17763.379.

AskWoody PlusMarch 31, 2019 at 8:05 am #347229Ummm, took the plunge to what? W10 or a newer feature upgrade on existing W10? It sounds like you may have upgraded to ver. 1809, is that the case?
Yes, as stated above by @anonymous it was the very specific topic path so I considered it a given. Sorry if anyone was confused. As @EP said, it did update me to 1809 build 17763.379. I’m using W10 Pro x64
