It has come to my attention that a new user to the forum/new plus member signed up and then immediately started posting on various venues asking to purchase the lifetime Malware Bytes antivirus program from the user. In addition, they did a direct message to several users.  This person has been banned from the forums and has been instructed that this behavior is not tolerated.

A kind reminder as well, lifetime memberships are for the person who purchased the original membership.  They cannot be transferred.  Not to mention, think in terms of the vendor and keep our technology ecosystem healthy and supported.  As someone who deeply appreciates the support of the Plus members, thank you for your support as well!

Not to mention that this could have all been a scam to get your personal information to “transfer payment”, yeah RIGHT!

THANKS to Susan for being right on top of this!

I’ve never had an invoice or other proof of purchase for my Malwarebytes lifetime license because in October 2010 I won it as a gift from the (now defunct) Calendar of Updates.

When setting up my newest computer in spring this year, I was fortunately able to retrieve the lifetime license code, by digging it up from a retired 2008 laptop.

In the proces of restoring my premium license, I was told by a Malwarebytes’ Root Admin that several years ago they stopped selling lifetime licenses, but they would continue to honour the licenses sold before 2014.

Clearly there was an attempt at piracy as that reprehensible person tried to illegally acquire a lifetime license code, if not worse.

This is another example of the attempted piracy that pervades the internet.  As time goes on, the perps get more accomplished.  And just like phone scams, they need only a small percentage of takers to succeed.  Thanks, Susan, for the heads-up.

You posted as “Guest”.  You have to login for the “Thanks” button to show.

Huge thanks for this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No, you can’t stop it but we must become increasingly aware. I have even started getting fishing (info) attempts from Paypal that are actually from the Paypal site. I realized that any paypal member can send such. Nothing Paypal can do about it. gmail has become increasingly worthless at intercepting spam.(click on this “jpeg” and have your computer taken over!)

      BE AWARE!!!!!

      THANKS!!!

Be aware that gmail (aka Google) scours your messages for any scrap of info to add to your (salable) profile.
