After I have installed the Window Explorer Home SP2 last night, when I launched the Internet Explorer, the Information Bar would pop out the following message for my home page created by Favorites Home Page . How to change the setting to prevent this pop out message comes out again?

Turn off the NEW pop-up blocker.
Look at “Tools –> Pop-up Blocker –> Turn Off Pop-up Blocker”

      Or go to

How to configure the Pop-up Blocker in Internet Explorer

        Hi Dave,

Turning off the Pop-up Blocker from Tools menu does not solve the problem. The following is another screen shot for your reference. Does it have anything to do with active content?

You are going to have to click “Yes” for this page to be displayed.

          From FHP readme web page
          Re-enable your anti-virus and script-security software.

          Note:
You may need to adjust the settings in your anti-virus/security software to allow FHP to run without interruption

            Hi Dave,

Yes, the FHP would display correctly after I clicked the YES. However, if I exit the and re-launch Internet Explorer (IE) or open a new IE window, the same message will pop out again. Is there a permanent solution to prevent the message popping out when the FHP is launched?

There is no anti-virus program in my computer. The only security software I can think of is IE itself.

This problem came out after the Windows XP Home SP2 update was installed last night.

              Dennis,
This is an aside from your posted problem, But:
              ——————————————
There is no anti-virus program in my computer
              —————————————–
I would ( and I’m sure ALL of the loungers would ) strongly suggest installing an Anti virus program and a firewall on your computer. The firewall with SP2 is something, but not the best and there is no AV with the update.
You are really leaving yourself wide open for troubles without any protection at all. yikes

I found myself the answer. Just go to Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Security to check on the Allow active content to run in files on my computer.

It seems terribly ironic: they just disabled ActiveX in the local computer zone in a recent patch, and you need to re-enable it already.

Another option would be to view the code of your home page and determine exactly what is triggering the alarm bells. Since I don’t use this software, I don’t know what they’ve put in there.

        Dennis.

Rather than doing this as a blanket option for all sites (which might be inviting problems), would adding specific sites (such as your home page) to your “Trusted Zone” work?

          Hi John,

My home page is a local HTML file at C:Program FilesFavorites Home Pagehomepage.html . The tructed site accepts only web address, not local file path.

          • #867944

I noticed something similar when developing with FrontPage. Whenever I do a “Preview Page in Browser” and I select IE (SP2), the same thing happens. May have something to do with these being local files. I haven’t been able to come up with a workaround yet, so for now I’m just living with it.

            • #867960

I’m curious: Is IE saying that http://127.0.0.1 is in the Local/My Computer zone, or is FrontPage launching the preview with a path to the file?

It’s lauching the preview with the local path to the file.
