    Hello…

One of our managers at work…who is running Windows XP Pro…seems to be accumulating ~.ts files on his computer, without documents actually being open in the process. He understands that XP saves files temporarily, at various points in time, while working on any given document…but he’s winding up w/ more & more of these on his machine & doesn’t recognize the file names as documents that he had recently opened & worked on. I told him I would look into it for him (& this is my #1 solution center).

    Thanks,

        Jezza…

I’m not talking about a file FORMAT…I’m talking about temporary files, the kind the OS saves every so often while working on an open document. Or…maybe it’s the app itself itself that saves them…I dont know…but they show up in the same folder as the parent file as a ~*.ts file.

What program is being used when these files appear? and the full path of these files?

Try Dave’s suggestion first. But, are you able to identify the “original” document in the folder ?? And if so, what happens if the corrisponding .ts files is renamed or moved to a different folder ??

          Hi Mark

Exactly, I am talking about the file format. Sometimes when files are downloaded or utilised via streaming they are saved to the temporary folders. My Temporary Internet Folder has a ton of junk in it by the end of the week with files with extensions of XLS,DOC,LOG, HTM, TXT and XML to mention a few. So my answer does hold water as does my original point in this thread.

Does the bos watch streamed video on his PC? If so this is probably the remnants of the files in the Temporary Folder.

What happens if you move one of the files to another location, does it have an application associated to it? Does it have a file size or does it have an arbitrary 0Kb size?

I have had a look on the web and the answer to This thread also mentions to the questioner that they have to look for the application that is creating them evilgrin

….and This thread too sems to concur with mine shrug
