Hi

Does anybody know how to get rid of the IE hijacker called ACCOONA. It has hijacked my seach process and I can’t find a way of uninstalling it. I have no idea where it came from in the first place. I currently run AVG anti-virus, SPYBOT and Ad-ADWARE. They do not pick it up as a hijacker. The accoona website exists and look normal.

Spybot shows that Accoona was detected in the update of 2nd December. Whether that’s the same as your problem, I cannot say. Here is an (earlier) account of someone’s experience with Accoona.

You also could try the free web version of Trend Micro Anti-Spyware (formerly SpySubtract): http://www.trendmicro.com/spyware-scan/%5B/url%5D. I’m not sure how often that one is updated, but it will connect to the update servers to check for the latest pattern file.
