Well, Nortin Internet Security (NIS) ’06, in its infinite wisdom, decided to say that FireFox was a potentially unsafe program, and another user chose to block it. Now I don’t know how to change the settings to allow it; the only way to get on FF is to disable NIS.

I only have NIS 2005, but in that I would
double-click on the green globe/Norton Internet Security icon/select it from the All Programs menu
      open up Norton Internet Security
      double-click on Personal Firewall
      click on the Configure button
      click on the Programs tab
find Firefox in the list of programs (also called Mozilla Firefox, note!)
change the Internet Access to Permit All

There may be several instances of Firefox/Mozilla Firefox, but I don’t know how you distinguish them. Perhaps remove all instances then reply appropriately to NIS when you next start Firefox?

You know, I’d found that advice before, but hadn’t put it to the test since I don’t have personal firewall enabled. I checked it out this time, and it worked. I guess I just wanted to hear it from a trusty source wink. Thanks!
