Access error (97/win95/win2000)

Our company is in the process of upgrading to Windows 2000. I have several 97 version Access Databases that are struggling with the changes. This is the error message I am getting:

DDE Server Window:msaccess,exe – Application Error

THe instruction at “0x0401f9f3” referenced memory at “0x00081fed”. THe memory could not be written.

What could be the problem?

Are they ‘upgrading’ from Windows 9x to Windows 2000, or are they installing Windows 2000 on blank/wiped machines?

Upgrading can bring all sorts of hassles into the mix, I HIGHLY recommend installing Windows 2000 on a blank hard drive. This may be a little more work, but it will save a ton of time in headaches that will definitely popup. We have been running Access 97 (and Access 2000) on Windows 2000 machines for years now, without a hitch. However, the few (2 or 3) machines that were ‘upgraded’ instead of a clean install were eventually wiped out and done with a clean install due to the problems that kept popping up on them.

Sorry, I made a mistake. The problems are occuring on new machines with Win2000 installed. We are still using Access 97. Is there something I can do?
