Has anyone else found problems with Access databases in VSS?
I’m finding that the IRR function isn’t working.

I seem to have a form where if I look at the Object Browser there is an entry
    “WithEvents IRR As AccessField”

My conclusion so far it that somehow the IRR function is now bound to the field on the form, e.g. Intellisense doesn’t work, whereas it does with MIRR
    – my own fault as I named the controlsource field IRR frown

Any thoughts on how to correct would be much appreciated.

The only thing I can suggest is to rename the control to something else – but you may want to remove it from VSS first, make the change, and then make a new project in VSS to see if things behave properly. We do some some occasional weirdities with VSS – for example if you have a database set to compact automatically on close, it will remove itself from VSS when you exit it under some conditions, even though you tell it not too. Sometimes it won’t even prompt you, so we take that option off for development, and apply it at the point where we deploy a new front-end. But the bottom line is if two or more developers are working on a project, or it is a very complex project, then you definitely want VSS.

That has nothing at all to do with VSS. If you give an object the same name as any reserved word (which includes the names of built in methods, properties and constants), you’re going to run into this kind of problem in Access/VBA. You need to use something like SpeedFerret to find and rename every reference to an object named IRR, and I don’t know of any shortcuts. It’s a pain to run SpeedFerret against a VSS project, so I try to avoid it. Actually, the previous version of SpeedFerret wasn’t too bad in that respect, but the latest version doesn’t work as well under those circumstances. shrug

        Thanks Wendell and Charlotte
crossfingers this is the cause, as whatever it is, it completely crashes Access frown
Thankfully I’ve got a copy of Find & Replace, which is similar to Speed Ferret (cheaper, but only for Access), so I’ll give renaming a try
