I have an address list table. I used the 9-digit Zip code mask and the results are correct. 02170-, or 02170-1234 when all 9 digits are input. I also told the mask Wizard to store the literal dash in the database. However, when I created a concatenated field CityStZip, everything appears except the dash in the 9-digit zip. I get “Boston, MA 021701234”. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks, Howard

did you look in the table to see if the dash had been saved or not

I tested this and it worked for me. Here’s what my input mask looks like from the table design property sheet:

      00000-9999;0;_

If all else fails you can use the Left and Right functions and “-” to concatenate the result you want.

Don’t know if you saw the reply under my original post, so I’m copying you here.
Thanks for all the responses. Paul, your copy of the mask worked fine. I had a typo in mine, which I didn’t notice, even after eyeballing it several times.

Glad to hear you got it working and my effort in posting the mask helped. I look forward to the day when I don’t have to rely on my stupid fingers for input devices wink

      Howard,

Where are you creating the concatenated field? Is it in a report? I used the concatenation in a query and it worked fine.
