Access 2000 Import Specifications problem (2000)

I converted an Access 97 database that has a Text import specification table called ‘MODEL OUTPUT’. When I run the macro to import the text file, I get the error message “In the text file specification ‘MODEL OUTPUT’, the STATE option is invalid. STATE is one of the fields. The problem is that I can’t find a way to get to the import specifications, since all I get is the error message.

I thought that perhaps I could manually import a text file so I could get into the import specifications, but even then I get the same message — not even using the import specification but it’s in the error message.

We only recently converted to Access 2000 from 97 here, and have already had a few ‘Access headaches’.

To get to Import specs, From the main menubar, select “File | Get External Data | Import”. Select the file you want, then select the Import button. On the dialog box that comes up next, there is an Advanced button. Select that, and it will give you a chance to open an Import Spec.

Thanks, but unfortunately I’m having problems doing these steps in Access2000. When I select File | Get External Data | Import and select the file and press the IMPORT button, I get an error message ‘DUPLICATE ACCOUNTS DATABASE can’t find the field ‘CurrentDb’ that is referred to in your expression.

I have no idea why I’m getting this message, but it’s keeping me from getting to my Import Specifications.

To save the Import specifications, you can first do an export of the table, set the specification and save them in the advanced button.

That is weird. I have no idea why you should be getting that error message. Try checking your refereneces.
