Accept changes? (Word 2002 )

Every time I open a .doc attachment from an e-mail, I’m asked if I want to save the changes made when I exit the document–but–I’ve made no changes. It’s not a problem, but it is an irritation to have to click the “no” box.

Does the document contain automatically updating fields such as a date or time field?

No, and the “save” option appears with every .doc attachment.

Do you open the attachments directly from the e-mail messages? If so, try saving them to disk first, and open the saved version. Does the problem persist?

I open them directly from the email if I know the sender, which is usually the case. I’ll have to try saving them. I’ll let you know if that works. Thanks much.
