Just got an email from ABBYY about new program “ABBYY ScanTo Office”. They are touting it as a replacement for Fine Reader supplied with some scanners.
Do we have any Beta users that have experience with the new program – and what is the feeling about the package?

It’s likely hard to beat Omni Page Pro Office for OCR to Office.

The stuff that comes with scanners is usually watered down.

For that matter, if you simply want OCR to Office, your best candidate is Textbridge – on which Omni Page’s Office interface is based.

Maybe, but I am not impressed by the OEM Textbridge that came with my scanner.
Perhaps, the retail version is better?

As long as you’re happy: is the important thing. I actually bought Textbridge in advance because I wasn’t clear what would ship with my scanner. While I didn’t get out the magnifying glass, Textbridge did seem slightly better. Given that accessing via Omni also brought up a large range of features of no value to me, I haven’t reinstalled it. ScanSoft bought out Textbridge and added some of the GOOD stuff from Texbridge into Omni Page Pro.However they (ScanSoft) is still marketing Textbridge as their entry level product.

Been running QmniPage since version 9 and have NOT seen a product that is any better.

I specifically asked about ABBYY’s new offering – I understand that others have their own favorites, but that wasn’t the question. I am still interested if anyone has any experience with ABBYY’s new offering.
