I wake up each morning, pour my coffee, take a look at the weather and then check out Woody’s…my morning computing newspaper…then go about my daily business. I would like to extend my debt of gratitude to you Woody and especially to all of the MVP’s (and everyone else) who make this site what it is…a safety net to computer health and security. I am up and running each day thanks to you all. “Sometimes we spend so much time and energy thinking about where we want to go that we don’t notice where we happen to be.” ― Dan Gutman

Yes,  indeed, thanks and give many $$$, everyone, please! Woody’s, because of its great usefulness, deserves at least that much from those of us who benefit from it!

      On a loosely relate subject:

I am am inclined to suspect that the Dalai Lama might not have been posting, especifically, about his experience at Woody’s, but making a more general point about human nature and what kind of attitude is essential, in any society, for its members to have, to sustain their individual lives while also benefiting the whole collective. Those people posting comments in Twitter, following the D.L.’s, have it exactly wrong: it has nothing to do with being “tribal” in attitude, everything with being “human” and “in society”, in any kind of society.

I guess the D.L.’s lesson was too subtle for some… Or, better yet, more like a Rorschach test of individual biases.

… helping others is the best way to help yourself, the best way to promote your own happiness. It is you, yourself, who will receive the benefit.

      Just great!

Now I’m being told by the Dalai Lama, that I’m a selfish b******!

Well, only shows how little he knows… 😛

Oh, I am. Can even produce lots of witnesses, that I really *really* am.

The buddhistic everything-revolves-around-me attitude however just ticks me off… but let’s not go there.

And sorry for using the b-word.
In my book though, it’s still the proper word to use to describe someone offering a hand in order to gain something for themselves…

          Peace and out!

“Not only is it the case that happy people are more willing to help others, but as I generally point out, helping others is the best way to help yourself, the best way to promote your own happiness. It is you, yourself, who will receive the benefit.”

I don’t understand why so many people seem to be struggling with a concept so simple and so self-evidently true. If you help others, you feel better about yourself, and your self-concept improves accordingly; if you help others, all who notice will have an increased regard for you and respect you accordingly. And that’s leaving God………..or karma, if you will………..out of it. Is help only helpful if one’s motivation is selflessly altruistic?
