      Catharine,

      I found this information at:
      http://www.alamopc.org/PCAlamode/reviews/c…/rev030206.html%5B/url%5D

“Today, Quattro Pro comes bundled as one of the business tools in WordPerfect

        I never thought of QP.

Just a followup – I found and downloaded from the Corel site a trial version of Corel Office, sorry WordPerfect Office 11. One of the interesting things I noticed while browsing around is that this version of WP Office uses Visual Basic

Thus should be a separate thread and in the VB forum.

Possibly, but I’d like to see what the Excel loungers have to say. Have you programmed in Quattro Pro?

            Cheers

              Nope.

On Windoze systems, only in Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Oulook, Front Page, Access and VB.

          Catherine ,

VBA can be licensed by software developers for inclusion in their products. A list of companies integrating VBA in their products can be found here .

I have dabbled with Corel’s implementation in Corel Draw, but never in QP or WP. I have also worked with Business Objects implementation.

The key to using VBA is to know the object model of the application. Given the differences in Microsoft’s own implementations in the Office products, you can take nothing for granted.

I have to ask, Catharine. Why would you *need* more columns? It sounds like that would create an unhold spreadsheet! flee

You can see I’m still on the subject here post 252392.
I’m working with data derived from DNA Microarray analysis (a flash movie describes the process ). Huge datasets can be generated. I’ve written an Excel addin that does some statistical manipulation of the data, but this was written before I knew how big the dataset could be shrug. So first I have to get it into Excel – then I’ll have to update my addin headthrob.

        Cheers

..split the data across 1000 sheets – then you’d have over quarter million columns.
Excel has no limit on number of sheets (limited by memory)

Maybe (since you’re doing stats…) you should consider using STATISTICA (http://www.statsoft.com), which:

          – Handles huge datasets (which XL doesn’t)
          – Has reliable stat functiions (ditto!!)
          – has VBA.

Is there no mileage in doing the ‘transpose’ bit, if the data source has fewer than 256 rows (and fewer than 65000 columns!)
