The service Ask Woody provides is invaluable!

I encourage all to donate to become members so these fine people can keep this publication going.

Excellent leadership  Susan, the quality of AskWoody is great and I am sure that all can afford to pay. In the big picture of things, it’s forgoing a few coffees a week at the coffee shop.

Speaking of newsletter content, when I try to copy articles from your website into Word documents for saving for later, the text and headers all appear but the images are disabled and appear in the Word document as blank.

It seems to be unique only to your website when that happens.

Is there any special reason images can’t be copied over?

      Thank you

copy articles … into Word documents …, the text and headers all appear but the images are disabled and appear … as blank.

        1. Copy & Paste works fine when I use LibreOffice’s Writer.

        2. In Firefox (in Windows 11) I can select part of a page with all its images or the complete page, right click on the selection, choose [Print selection …] and print to a .pdf printer (like PDFCreator). The resulting .pdf has everything, text and images.

With 1 exception: The very top banner [ASKWOODY, Tame Your Tech!] does not copy nor print directly (for me, that is). Though there’s a workaround for that too: you can Copy & Paste (a part of) a screenshot.

        1 Desktop Win 11
        1 Laptop Win 10
Both tweaked to look, behave and feel like Windows 95
(except for the marine blue desktop, rgb(0, 3, 98)

I’ll give that a try, thanks

Thanks Susan and Will for this very interesting peek behind the scenes.
I have been reading this Newsletter and the former Windows Secrets since the early 2000s and rely on the insights from both the Publishers and the Forums to keep me abreast of the myriad complexities of Computers and the Internet.
While reading this, and noting the heavy reliance on two key people, I wondered what you have in place to safeguard the Newsletter’s Corporate Knowledge. What happens in the case of accident or illness of Susan and or will? And, do you have succession plans in place?

I call it the “being hit by a bus” concern.  Will is MUCH better organized than I am and has his flow/process documented.  He is irreplaceable but to his credit he’s done a much better documentation process than I.  I need to work on my documentation.  Same for the home as well.  My sister always jokes that I have to outlive her otherwise she can’t turn on the TV.

It’s a pleasure being a paid subscriber. I never have second guessed this decision. Very rare to find such value on internet these days.

Thank you so much for this issue. I’ve been a subscriber forever. Even though I’m long retired, this is still my favorite newsletter, and I really enjoyed reading about all the work that goes into putting it out every week.

Bravo to Susan and Will.  I’ve just made an extra donation.
