Microsoft Edge > Settings > Sidebar > App and notification settings > App specific settings > Copilot and then turning on or off the ‘Allow Microsoft to access page content’ toggle.

    copilot1

    copilot2

    For Enterprises…

“If you want to centrally manage this task via Group Policy, the corresponding setting is not as specific. Instead, it disables the sidebar for all applications. Generally, this may not pose a significant limitation since there are hardly any useful apps for the sidebar.

The policy is called Show Hubs sidebar and must be deactivated to hide the Copilot bar. It can be found in the computer and user configuration under Policies => Administrative Templates => Microsoft Edge.”  see Disable Copilot and block ChatGPT in Windows and Edge with Group Policy and Defender – 4sysops

In Edge Version 126.0.2592.87  (Windows 10 Home)

Microsoft Edge > Settings > Sidebar > App and notification settings > App specific settings > Copilot

I have a setting “Show Copilot” and I have toggled it off.

So no Copilot on my Edge.

I have Windows 10 Pro on my laptop. I can fire that up later today and check.

I just checked one of my Pro machines and apparently had already toggled it off. This time, however, I added it to my long list of OS/Edge modifications that I maintain for setting up new hardware. I also changed GPO for the OS.

Personally, I’m getting tired of having to waste my time removing/disabling things that MS keeps adding without my permission. IMO, Copilot is going to make people dumber as they grow to rely on it and forget how to do original research. I don’t look forward to a future where people respond “Copilot said this, so it must be true”.
