    New disclosure from Cisco/Talos, their bottom line is:

    Users are urged to update their vulnerable versions of 7-Zip to the latest revision, version 16.00, as soon as possible.

      I install this on all my family/friends’ PCs/laptops so many thanks for the ‘heads up’.

      PeaZip has also updated the 7z backend.

      Still waiting to see when Malwarebytes and other security software makers update this. Same for backup/imaging software, etc.

      The problem for us is that we can’t tell which, if any, of our installed software makes use of the 7z backend.

        7-Zip was updated to v16.01 today. http://www.7-zip.org

        Two days later (2016-05-21), updated to 16.02:

        What’s new after 7-Zip 16.01:
        The BUG in 16.00 – 16.01 was fixed:
        7-Zip mistakenly reported the warning
        “There are some data after the end of the payload data”
        for split archives.
