Trying to locate duration setting. I tried a couple registry fixes for 10 but neither worked. Stuck on one picture. Any ideas? Thanks!

If Windows Spotlights stops working and/or stops changing the background image, you can reset and re-register Windows Spotlight to fix it.
(Sometimes it may take 24 to 48 hours after resetting for Windows Spotlight to sync again.)

This procedure has worked well for me and many others on Windows 10.

AskWoody PlusApril 24, 2022 at 9:47 am #2441518Well, 3 days later, the spotlight screen shows a different picture than that ugly blue ribbon thing and dims to black after about 45 seconds so its usable. Picture doesn’t change.
However, slideshow dims after 45 seconds but after a few seconds becomes bright again until another 45 seconds later, then repeat. It never changes the picture.
Maybe I should try that reset again?
I’ve been using the old screen saver that I think had been around since XP. At least that still works, though it doesn’t have the option to full-screen the pictures. But usable.
Thanks.

AskWoody PlusApril 29, 2022 at 1:00 pm #2442774The delay here was me doing another reset and waiting 60 hours.
NOTE: I sometimes use the ancient screen saver simply because IT WORKS.
Trying spotlight, pictures do change occasionally but I found timeout to be functional of the timeout setting in the ancient screen saver – set that to 2 minutes, you get lockscreen after ~3 min. Set it to 5Min, get lockscreen after ~6 min. However, set it to 7 minutes and no lockscreen until 13 min and then black screen.
It seems that the appearance of the lockscreen is followed in ~1min by black screen.
Note, power settings through this remain at shut display off after 10 min. Sometimes that limit holds, sometimes it is ignored, functional on the setting of the timeout in ancient screen saver timeout setting (set to “none” in all cases).
Slideshow only shows the one picture, it turns out, that was selected in the “Picture” option, even if that picture was selected from a folder that had many pictures (a supposed fix for slideshow probs). slideshow always says “you need more than one picture to show” regardless of what folder you point it at. Basic programming error in there. This whole “lockscreen menu is littered with programming errors.
