Hi, one of my clients reports that when putting 2004 into a sheet it transfers in 2005. Other things go well. Like 2005 is 2005, and 2003 is 2003. Adding 1 to 2003 (=2003+1) makes 2004. Little weird, it happens on 2 pc’s, one with the Dutch version and one with the English version. Both have SP3. Anyone familiar with this behavior?
It doesn’t happen with me, but I tested it on their pc’s and found this happen.

I don’t understand what you mean by “when putting 2004 into a sheet it transfers in 2005”. Could you elaborate?

The most simple way: open a worksheet, put 2004 in A1, push TAB or ENTER, and A1 says 2005.
Couldn’t believe what I saw. Can you?

Follow the steps in Jan Karel Pieterse’s Systematic Approach to Behavioral Problems in XL on a problem PC.

            Hi Hans,
Did all there is in the manual of Jan Karel. No luck.
Best way to uninstall and reinstall?
Also nothing in Excel Start dir.
            Maybe deleting personal.xls?

The first step in Jan Karel’s troubleshooting guide is to start Excel with the /Automation switch. This loads Excel without loading Personal.xls etc. So if the problem still persisted, Personal.xls is not the culprit and there is no need to delete it.

Try Help | Detect and Repair from within Excel – you may have to insert your MS Office CD.

Ongelooflijk, this is what you’re not gonna believe:
              user put 2004 in autocorrect!
deleted that and everything worked like it should.
