      @Woody,

      Just a note….after reading the 20 Fixes article (a great resource for those on W10 with issues) anyone who has not “upgraded” to W10 yet will be backing away as fast as they can from W10. Talk about potential nightmares.

      These are definitely some major problems with Win10 itself. The whole patching process is not a good advertisement for Win10.

      I am glad that I didn’t upgrade to Windows 10.
      What a lot of problems! I would be left with no hair. 🙂

      I have had no problems updating my Microsoft Signature tablet or my Toshiba laptop. I wait for the green or amber light here at AskWoody before patching, so maybe that’s the key to my success. I run Win 10 Pro on both devices. Metered Connections until we get the go-ahead here.

      You might want to add a hard drive hardware check before any checkdisk, sfc, or dism repairs.

      GSmartControl is a great on for checking if a hard drive is toast, or just a little defective. Any drive with signs of defect should be used at your own risk.

      The tool’s output needs some scrutiny to get the full benifit.
