I thought I read (or was really wishing hard) in a thread I can not reconstruct, that in XP, 2 paragraph styles can apply to the same line. Can someone help me on this?

I want to type a term (in bold), hit TAB and then enter its definition (not bold). Nor, do I want to place it into a table format.
    Example:

    Style A manner of performance.

Question A sentence of inquiry that asks for a reply

As far as I can see, your example can be accomplished by applying a character style to the first part of the paragraph – something that has been possible in all recent versions of Word.

Word 2002 does have a new feature:
Say that you format a paragraph in paragraph style A. If you select part of the paragraph and apply another paragraph style B, the selection will take on the character formatting of style B, but not the paragraph-specific elements of style B (indents, line spacing, borders, etc.).

There’s also the style separator, which may be what you’re thinking of. The style separator acts the same way a hidden paragraph marks does in that you can apply a different paragraph style to the text on both sides of the separator, but still have the entire selection act as one paragraph. So your example would be done:

(apply term paragraph style) Style (insert style separator, apply definition paragraph style, tab) A manner of performance.

The keyboard shortcut for inserting the style separator is Alt/Ctrl/Return.

Perfect!… This is what I’m trying to do.

I figured by saying that I want Term Definition to ‘follow’ Term, when I setup the format style, that when I , it would go from Term to Term Def…. But it didn’t. How do I set that up?
