Hi, I have regular home Windows XP – however I couldn’t find such forum here, so I had decided to ask.
When I type msconfig – my Startup brings following weird items on startup:azde3fy8 in Temp folder azde3fy8.exe (I have 2 of those)and 1357293636 as 1357293636.exe in Temp folder.

I had unchecked all 3 and rebooted, opened and see azde3fy8 is still present as nothing happened to it…Google does not recognize those.
My PC is running weird – very well most of the time when all of a sudden it is freezing and I have to wait.In 5 min it is back to normal.I am miffed.
If google doesn’t know what it is – you, guys are the only people who can help! ThanksLocation for both (3) is SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Window/Current Version/Run

It sounds to me like a virus/trojan/adware/nasty. Many of these create random file names that they then enter into the run key in the registry.

What anti-virus and anti-spyware utilities do you use and are they completely up to date? Have you done a full scan recently?

Among many other suggestions I would put forward the downloading, installing, updating and running of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. (use the blue button on the left “Download free version”). When you’ve installed it, click on the Update tab then the Check for Updates button to get the latest definitions, then go back to the Scanner tab and run a quick scan first, then the Full scan. (Or just the Full scan!). Might take some time (say 20-30 mins?) If you encounter problems, you may need to do the scan(s) in Safe Mode.

As Stuart says, you should have up-to-date antivirus and antispyware installed – I’d be guessing yours may be out of date if it hasn’t picked up the Startup nasties…

Plethora means a lot to me.

I have just paid for the scan Spyware Doctor.
Now it is sitting and telling me every time something ‘suspisious’ wants to enter – I want to kill myself!!! What should I do? Disable it and scan daily after I am done with working on my PC?
It is slows down my PC even more than before.

Which software firewall do you have?
Which anti-virus program do you have?

What happened when you ran Malwarebytes?
