Does anyone know how to uninstall, or remove or disable the security patch imbedded in office 2000 sr2 which sets up level one and level 2 security so it will stop blocking .exe, .mdb, etc files

Uninstall Office and then reinstall it. But do NOT install SR-2, just SR-1a.

Less trouble than uninstalling is to use chilton preview. it’s a preview pane that gets around the attachment block.

The attachment is only marked as unavailable, it is actually still there.

This is not a fix, but it is a viable workaround.
Import the offending message into Outlook Express (or another mail program that imports Outlook data), and the attachment will be available.
