From within an e-mail message, either composing or received, suddenly I have no option to Delete, Send, Forward, etc. Not sure how these commands disappeared. Can’t figure out how to get them back. Any help?

AskWoody LoungerAugust 2, 2008 at 5:53 pm #1119411Has one of your toolbars stopped appearing, or were commands removed from the toolbar?
If a toolbar does not appear, you should be able to turn it back on by right-clicking after Help on the menu bar.
You can add and remove, or completely reset the controls on a toolbar by using the Customize option at the bottom of the toolbar list.
Does that help?

AskWoody LoungerAugust 2, 2008 at 6:06 pm #1119412Actually, no. I don’t want itsy bitsy commands, I want the main Email Editing buttons, the big-ass icons that every e-mail ought to have. Going to View/Toolbar gives me the following lame options: Editing and Formatting. This is not Word. I don’t know how all the basic email actions can just disappear. It happened all at once, I am thinking there must be a very simple one step toggle to bring them back. I hope I’m not too cranky about this.

AskWoody LoungerAugust 2, 2008 at 9:34 pm #1119466You can restore the menus and toolbars to their default settings (losing any customizations that you applied) as follows:
– Quit all instances of Outlook.
– Start Windows Explorer.
– Select Tools | Folder Options…
– Activate the View tab.
– Make sure that the check box “Show hidden files and folders” is ticked.
– Click OK.
– Navigate to the folder C:Documents and SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftOutlook where is your Windows username.
– Rename the file outcmd.dat to (for example) outcmd.old, or move it to another folder.
– Restart Outlook. -
